The Green Growth Action Alliance which was established at last yearis forum told political and business leaders that a whopping 14 TRILLION dollars must be spent on clean energy to prevent global warming from devastating the world economy.VS) Eila that_s quite the number and i_m sure it surprised everyone at the forum.EA) That it did Vic and it came from quite the powerful source.Heading the alliance is former Mexican President Felipe Calderon and heis not mincing words on the subject. Calderon says to prevent global warming from reaching its tipping point the international community must take massive and immediate action. His recommendations focus on weaning off fossil fuels and shifting all industry to low-carbon technology.And yes this comes with a serious price tag: an estimated 700 billion dollars a year between now and 2030. That said Calderon is adamant that IN-action will cost our planet far more in the long run since it would ravage both the environment AND the world economy. North Korea is defiant in the face of a UN Security Council resolution condemning their successful December rocket launch. The rogue state says it plans to continue to strengthen its nuclear program. According to the Centers for Disease Control eight are dead and ninety-seven are sick but thousands more could be affected. The outbreak has been linked to tainted steroid shots used to treat back pain that were produced at a medical center in Massachusetts. Nationwide up to 13-thousand people may have been exposed to the disease. But because the incubation period takes up to a month it will be weeks before patients know if they_ve been infected. We_ll turn our attention further south now where Mexican authorities say they MAY have scored one of their biggest victories in the war on drugs to date. There is strong evidence to suggest that Mexican marines have killed the leader of one of the country_s most brutal drug cartels. Erica Stevens joins us now with the full story.Vic it_s believed that Heriberto The Executioner Lazcano was killed Sunday in a firefight with marines in northern Mexico. Lazcano is the leader of the powerful Zetas drug cartel which has a reputation for extreme violence. Lazcano is one of Mexico_s most wanted criminals and the US government had even placed a 5 million dollar bounty on his head. Lazcano is a former soldier and although initial forensic tests indicate that authorities have their man further results will be needed for confirmation. Sounds like one pretty tough customer. And certainly a feat President Felipe Calderon can hang his hat on if it_s confirmed.Oh absolutely. It would be Calderon_s biggest victory since he started the military assault on drug cartels six years ago. We_ll just have to wait and see. Now I know you_ve ALSO been keeping an eye on another story for us - the announcement of two of this year_s Nobel Prize winners.That I have Vic the prize for physics is being shared by an American and a Frenchman. The pair have been awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize for their ground-breaking quantum optics work which deals with basic units of light and matter. David Wineland and Serge Haroche will split the 1-point-2 million dollar top prize. It_s believed their work could have a huge impact on light-based clocks and desktop computing. According to the FBI the group had been targeting private trash removal companies throughout the New York area. The majority of those taken into custody are said to be affiliated with the regionis five organized crime families.A U.S. employee has lost his six-figure software developer job after investigators found heid been outsourcing all his assignments to China. Sources at Verizon which conducted the audit say the unnamed man paid 50 thousand dollars a year to a company based in Shenyang even FedEx-ing his security token so they could log in under his name.

Youire Dante half demon half angel all badass. Youive got to hack slash and shoot your way through Limbo City. Firstly this is a gorgeous looking game. Combat is a lot of fun as well with a couple of minor gripes: By pressing one trigger you can use ìDemon Formi weapons. The other trigger is for ìAngel Formi weapons n which means you_ve got a lot of cool moves at your disposal. But picking between Demon and Angel tactics can also confuse you in the midst of battle. Another minor complaint is that the game automatically locks onto enemies meaning sometimes you canit hit the baddie that you want to. The story is dark and engrossing which is always a plus. Fans of the series and newbies should ALL check this title out. ìDMC n Devil May Cryi gets 4 out of 5 Naked Ns.

All eyes are on Washington today where members of the House have voted to push through a bill that will avoid the potentially disastrous fiscal cliff. But as Eila Adams is about to tell you despite the new agreement there is STILL a rough road ahead. KC) What_s going on EIla?EA) Kat after an exhaustive round of heated negotiations Tuesday night the US House of Representatives voted 257 to 167 in favor of the bill. 172 Democrats and 85 Republicans supported the new legislation with 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats voting against it. The new bill will see taxes rise for the wealthiest 2-percent while limiting the impact on the country_s middle class. However it does not address the US debt ceiling which will need to be raised again after hitting the 16.3 trillion dollar mark. The bill also delays major federal spending cuts which would reduce the budgets of most agencies and programs by 8 to 10 percent. QUICK TURN TO TVEA) In other words Kat there_s still a LOT of work to be done. KC) So now that they_ve avoided this first hurdle Eila what kind of deadlines lie ahead?EA) As far as the debt ceiling goes politicians will need to agree to raise the limits by late February or early March.KC) And we all know how that went last year when political squabbling led to a US credit downgrade. And what about these other budget cuts?EA) Well this new bill delayed the budget slashes to federal programs - which are known in Washington as the sequester - for about two months. According to the White House failing to alter the cuts could have a devastating impact on defense and non-defense programs. KC) It_ll be very interesting to see how this unfolds we_ll be watching thanks very much Eila. We_ll turn our attention further south now where Mexican authorities say they MAY have scored one of their biggest victories in the war on drugs to date. There is strong evidence to suggest that Mexican marines have killed the leader of one of the country_s most brutal drug cartels. Erica Stevens joins us now with the full story.Vic it_s believed that Heriberto The Executioner Lazcano was killed Sunday in a firefight with marines in northern Mexico. Lazcano is the leader of the powerful Zetas drug cartel which has a reputation for extreme violence. Lazcano is one of Mexico_s most wanted criminals and the US government had even placed a 5 million dollar bounty on his head. Lazcano is a former soldier and although initial forensic tests indicate that authorities have their man further results will be needed for confirmation. Sounds like one pretty tough customer. And certainly a feat President Felipe Calderon can hang his hat on if it_s confirmed.Oh absolutely. It would be Calderon_s biggest victory since he started the military assault on drug cartels six years ago. We_ll just have to wait and see. Now I know you_ve ALSO been keeping an eye on another story for us - the announcement of two of this year_s Nobel Prize winners.That I have Vic the prize for physics is being shared by an American and a Frenchman. The pair have been awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize for their ground-breaking quantum optics work which deals with basic units of light and matter. David Wineland and Serge Haroche will split the 1-point-2 million dollar top prize. It_s believed their work could have a huge impact on light-based clocks and desktop computing. The other trigger is for ìAngel Formi weapons n which means you_ve got a lot of cool moves at your disposal. But picking between Demon and Angel tactics can also confuse you in the midst of battle. Another minor complaint is that the game automatically locks onto enemies meaning sometimes you canit hit the baddie that you want to. The story is dark and engrossing which is always a plus. KC) What_s going on EIla?EA) Kat after an exhaustive round of heated negotiations Tuesday night the US House of Representatives voted 257 to 167 in favor of the bill. 172 Democrats and 85 Republicans supported the new legislation with 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats voting against it. The new bill will see taxes rise for the wealthiest 2-percent while limiting the impact on the country_s middle class. However it does not address the US debt ceiling which will need to be raised again after hitting the 16.3 trillion dollar mark. The bill also delays major federal spending cuts which would reduce the budgets of most agencies and programs by 8 to 10 percent. QUICK TURN TO TVEA) In other words Kat there_s still a LOT of work to be done. KC) So now that they_ve avoided this first hurdle Eila what kind of deadlines lie ahead?EA) As far as the debt ceiling goes politicians will need to agree to raise the limits by late February or early March.KC) And we all know how that went last year when political squabbling led to a US credit downgrade. And what about these other budget cuts?EA) Well this new bill delayed the budget slashes to federal programs - which are known in Washington as the sequester - for about two months. According to the White House failing to alter the cuts could have a devastating impact on defense and non-defense programs.
