While she is searching the house, she hears the shower go on upstairs and heads up to check it out.

Listening at the door and assuming he is taking a shower, she pulls up a chair and waits for him to come out, gun pointed and ready. Lexxi enters the house, knowing that way too much time has passed. She searches the house and finds evidence that per partner did at least part of her job and her gun was not in her purse. Lexxi, with her weapon ready, approaches the stairs. She can distinctly hear a shower. She ascends the stairs, at first assuming the two have taken a shower. But, upon reaching the top, she finds Houston very, very dead, slumped in a chair. She discovers a wad of paper between Houston's legs, it was moist, and obviously was in her mouth
