It was more bad news for Uber on Monday as the city of Portland filed a lawsuit against the taxi-ride service. The suit claims Uber must stop operations until it meets the city_s regulations. Uber_s already been banned in Nevada as well as the Netherlands for failing to meet licensing standards and was banned this week in the Indian capital of New Delhi after a driver allegedly rpgd a female passenger.Much of the northeast is on winter storm watches as they brace for a second major storm in the past 2 weeks. The arrest comes a day after Ghomeshi dropped a 55 MILLION dollar wrongful termination lawsuit against the CBC.And Bill Cosby has had two more shows canceled due to widespread allegations of sexual assault. The 77-year old comedian_s upcoming dates in Washington and Connecticut have been postponed indefinitely. In the past few weeks more than a dozen women have come out to claim Cosby assaulted them. The allegations had already caused NBC to cancel plans for a new Cosby TV show and Netflix to drop a standup special that would have started streaming this week.

Well he was playing the most DANGEROUS game of all this time around. Hope that adrenaline rush was worth it Given the WORLDWIDE negative attention Williams has received I_m going to go out on a limb and say it wasn_t.A spokesperson for Australia_s Department of Fisheries summed it up like this: 99 percent of the population would see that behavior as irresponsible. I guess Williams can count himself among that ONE per cent who thought this was a completely reasonable and logical thing to do. The White House announced it will host a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism next month. The talks will highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing recruiting or inspiring individuals or groups to commit acts of violence. The summit will be attended by US officials and delegates from other world powers and will kick off on February 18th.And Cuba has carried through on its promise to release 53 prisoners as part of the deal between Raul Castro and Barack Obama last month. The move is considered a major stepping stone towards improved relations between Havana and Washington. The identities of the 53 people released has been kept secret but Congress is expected to make the names public later this week. The move by Cuba should prompt the US Congress to ease economic and travel restrictions against the island nation. Officials from both countries are set to meet for historic talks next week.

This week Russia_s central bank spent 2 billion dollars trying to prop up the ruble - and has spent a total of 80 billion on it this year - but cheaper oil prices and harsh Western sanctions have crippled the currency_s value.And ongoing threats from hackers have forced Sony to cancel the premiere of its highly-publicized - and highly controversial - comedy The Interview. The movie is about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. A group of hackers calling themselves The Guardians of Peace have already leaked hundreds of sensitive emails and documents from Sony and they had threatened to attack American theaters screening the film. In a recent warning the hackers referenced 911 saying the world will be full of fear. Sony has shelved the movie for the time being and the Department of Homeland Security is investigating the threats.

What were your overall impressions of Obama_s speech Isabella?Agree or disagree with his politics Peyton there_s no denying the President delivered one of the most powerful and inspiring performances of his political careerPresident Obama_s hour-long address to Congress outlined his new agenda for the nation and the overarching message was this: it is time to turn the page. Despite touching on a number of divisive issues that will be hotly debated in the months ahead Obama_s address was overwhelmingly positive.The President then moved on to what is arguably the most controversial topic in Washington today: the economy. He laid out his plan to close loopholes and raise tax rates for the super rich in order to help boost the country_s struggling middle class. When it came to foreign policy Obama warned Congress against approving any sanctions against Iran warning it would derail the progress already made during nuclear talks with the West. He also pointed to Russia_s struggling economy as a sign that diplomatic isolation could be just as effective as waging war. And as he made clear in mid-December the President believes it_s time for a new direction in the country_s relationship with Cuba. Obama made it clear to Congress that he was willing to work with Republicans to find solutions both parties could agree on. However towards the end of his address he threw in an off-the-cuff joke that probably didn_t sit well with the GOP. Meanwhile it was left to Iowa senator Joni Ernst to deliver the official Republican response to the President_s address. Ernst touted a new jobs proposal related to the Keystone pipeline and called Obamacare a failed policy that reflected Washington_s stale mindset. One thing is for certain: with Republicans dominating both the House and Senate the President will likely have a tough time passing legislation they disagree with. The White House announced it will host a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism next month. The talks will highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing recruiting or inspiring individuals or groups to commit acts of violence. The summit will be attended by US officials and delegates from other world powers and will kick off on February 18th.And Cuba has carried through on its promise to release 53 prisoners as part of the deal between Raul Castro and Barack Obama last month. The move is considered a major stepping stone towards improved relations between Havana and Washington. The identities of the 53 people released has been kept secret but Congress is expected to make the names public later this week. The move by Cuba should prompt the US Congress to ease economic and travel restrictions against the island nation. Officials from both countries are set to meet for historic talks next week. A group of hackers calling themselves The Guardians of Peace have already leaked hundreds of sensitive emails and documents from Sony and they had threatened to attack American theaters screening the film. Despite touching on a number of divisive issues that will be hotly debated in the months ahead Obama_s address was overwhelmingly positive.The President then moved on to what is arguably the most controversial topic in Washington today: the economy. He laid out his plan to close loopholes and raise tax rates for the super rich in order to help boost the country_s struggling middle class. When it came to foreign policy Obama warned Congress against approving any sanctions against Iran warning it would derail the progress already made during nuclear talks with the West. He also pointed to Russia_s struggling economy as a sign that diplomatic isolation could be just as effective as waging war. And as he made clear in mid-December the President believes it_s time for a new direction in the country_s relationship with Cuba. Obama made it clear to Congress that he was willing to work with Republicans to find solutions both parties could agree on. However towards the end of his address he threw in an off-the-cuff joke that probably didn_t sit well with the GOP. Meanwhile it was left to Iowa senator Joni Ernst to deliver the official Republican response to the President_s address. Ernst touted a new jobs proposal related to the Keystone pipeline and called Obamacare a failed policy that reflected Washington_s stale mindset. One thing is for certain: with Republicans dominating both the House and Senate the President will likely have a tough time passing legislation they disagree with.
