After attacking the Bank of Greece earlier this week they released a video on YouTube claiming it_s only the beginning. In an earlier video Anonymous singled out Wall Street and the Bank of England as prime targets for an online assault. Their campaign called Operation Icarus is also taking aim at banks in China Pakistan and Iran. The Australian government is really putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to cracking down on smoking. Pretty soon a pack Down Under will cost more than 33 dollars Cigarettes were already heavily taxed in Australia but the government_s new budget is calling for a 12.5 percent increase every year from 2017 to 2020. By the end of the plan nearly 70-percent of the price of each pack will go to taxes And scientists in Washington have put together a new type of robot capable of performing complicated surgeries. Other robots in use today need a human operating the controls but this one can carry out tasks all by itself. In fact in some cases the Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot - or STAR - performed even better than human surgeons The device isn_t ready for use in hospitals just yet but when it is it should free up its human colleagues to focus on more difficult tasks. And if anyone thought the Democrats convention would be drama free well think again. Debbie Wasserman Schultz the CHAIRPERSON of the DNC was forced to resign following an email scandal Wikileaks released 20 thousand emails stolen from the DNC and several of them seemed to indicate a preference for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders among party staffers In one Wasserman Schultz called a top Sanders aide a damn liar With party unity such a priority it was clear she had to goThe stakes for this convention have become even higher A new CNNORC poll suggests that following their convention the Trump ticket has pulled ahead According to the poll Trump now leads Clinton 48 to 45 percent Trump received a big convention boost among independents with his support skyrocketing from 31 to 46 percent Only time will tell if Hillary ALSO gets a post convention bump. We_ll probably have to wait a little longer than expected for Nintendo_s next console. The NX was expected before Christmas this year. But now Nintendo_s announced they_ll be outfitting the new box with VR capabilities to better compete with the PS4 Neo and XBox One_s Scorpio. Sounds good but the downside is production will likely be delayed until some time in 2017. There_s no denying it now: Minecraft is one of the most successful video games of all time. The BLOCK-buster hit recently surpassed the 100 million mark in copies sold. And talk about elite company. It_s only the second game to ever crack the 100 million milestone Tetris being the other one. It_s not like Minecraft_s sales are slowing down either. Since the start of 2016 the game has averaged more than 50-thousand copies sold every month. Here_s one for all you old school gamers: a real life tabletop version of Pong It LOOKS kind of like an air hockey table. But actually the table uses robotic arms that are controlled by a computer. And just like the video game you can play against an AI opponent or take on one of your friends. SO cool The table is the work of designer Daniel Perdomo who_s hoping to find a manufacturer to produce even more of them. Now let_s check out Mirror_s Edge Catalyst for the PC PS4 and XBox One. Similar to the original from 2008 you play as the sexy and deadly Faith Connors. It_s her mission to take down a totalitarian regime and to do so she_ll have to run like hell through the giant city of Glass Okay let_s not sugarcoat things. The story in this game is terrible. The gameplay mechanics on the other hand - pretty darn good. Guiding Faith through her parkour-style stunts is challenging but really does feel natural. We can_t call Mirror_s Edge Catalyst a must-buy but it_s worth a look if you_re on the hunt for something out of the ordinary. We_ll give it 3 out of 5 naked n_s. Let_s start off in the Naked Newsroom where Elise has GOOD news for Facebook investors BAD news for Uber passengers and some even WORSE news for Venezuelans Kat Facebook has BLOWN industry expectations out of the water with its latest quarterly results The tech giant reported sales of 5 point 4 billion on Wednesday up 52 PERCENT from the same period last year. That_s 10 percent HIGHER than what Wall Street analysts had been predicting. The majority of that growth was from advertising revenue. Profits were also up a whopping 200 percent while the number of monthly active users reached an all-time high of 1 point 65 billion. Uber wants to fine tardy passengers who keep drivers waiting The ride-sharing service is currently testing out a program where users pay EXTRA if they are more than 2 minutes late for a pick-up. So if a driver waited 7 minutes you_d have to pay for an extra five minutes of that ride. The company is ALSO trialing out a new cancellation fee of up to 10 DOLLARS if the trip is aborted more than 2 minutes into a call. Suddenly taxis aren_t looking that bad And the government of Venezuela has introduced a TWO DAY work week for public servants to save on electricity The country is in the middle of a DEVASTATING drought bought on by El Nino. That means that the water levels required to produce hydroelectricity are running dangerously low. Other emergency measures already in place include school closures and 4-hour rolling blackouts. Officials are even considering putting the clocks FORWARD by half an hour to reduce demand in the evening. Carli I_ve got an update on one of the wrongful death lawsuits involving Paul Walker against Porsche. Plus it_s round TWO of Gawker versus the HulkUH oh hasn_t Gawker learnt their lesson yet? You DON_T mess with a professional wrestlerI guess they figure that since 140 MILLION dollars is at stake it_s worth a shot But to start things off Carli I_ve got a controversial new bill that_s just been approved in Mississippi. Republican Governor Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523-the so-called Religious Freedom bill - into law. The measure allows businesses to refuse service based on religious objections. North Carolina recently enacted a similar law while the governor of Georgia was forced to VETO a version after pressure from the business community. The ACLU has already condemned the new legislation saying that it flies in the face of the basic American principles of fairness justice and equality. Porsche is NOT responsible for the car accident that killed Hollywood actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas in November 2013. This according to a federal judge who made the ruling in response to a wrongful death lawsuit from Rodas_ widow. She claimed that the car-maker was liable because the Porsche Carrera GT they were driving lacked crucial safety features that could have prevented their deaths. Two other cases against Porsche from Walker_s daughter and father are still pending. And no surprises here: Gawker Media is trying to get out of paying that 140 million dollar judgement for posting Hulk Hogan_s sex tape online The website has filed new motions asking to vacate the ruling or at the very least to reduce the payout to just under 2 million. Lawyers for Gawker claim that the jury was guided by passion and prejudice instead of facts and that the damages are up to TWELVE times higher than similar awards. Carli I say we settle this once and for all: Gawker founder Nick Denton and Hulk in a wrestling ring and Hulk gets to do WHATEVER he wants to Nick for 10 minutes. Sounds fair right?I_D definitely watch but I_m not sure what would be more expensive for Nick the jury award or the HOSPITAL bill Thanks very much Elise. Elise sales of Apple_s iPhone have DECLINED for the first time in company history The 2nd quarter results out Tuesday reported sales of 51 point 2 million units down 10 million from the same period last year. Revenue was ALSO down for the first time in THIRTEEN years with just 50 point 5 billion reported compared to 58 billion a year ago. It wasn_t ALL bad news though-Apple_s services division which includes iTunes the App Store and the newly created Apple Music saw revenue increase by 20 percent. ANOTHER major car-maker has admitted to falsifying data This time it_s Japan_s Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. The company revealed on Tuesday that it has been faking the results of fuel efficiency tests for the past 25 YEARS. All of the affected models were sold in Japan and include the eK wagon and eK Space light passenger cars as well as nearly 500 thousand cars produced for Nissan. The fraudulent reporting was identified after Nissan noticed inconsistencies in the test results. And employees at a US yogurt company are in line for a MASSIVE windfall Chobani is giving its 2 thousand workers up to 10 PERCENT of its shares. The company CEO called the bonus a mutual promise to work together with a shared purpose and responsibility. Employee Stock Ownership programs aren_t unusual but Chobani is giving these shares away for FREE The individual payouts will be based on how long an employee has been with the company. Other robots in use today need a human operating the controls but this one can carry out tasks all by itself. In fact in some cases the Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot - or STAR - performed even better than human surgeons The device isn_t ready for use in hospitals just yet but when it is it should free up its human colleagues to focus on more difficult tasks. Similar to the original from 2008 you play as the sexy and deadly Faith Connors. It_s her mission to take down a totalitarian regime and to do so she_ll have to run like hell through the giant city of Glass Okay let_s not sugarcoat things. The story in this game is terrible. The gameplay mechanics on the other hand - pretty darn good. Guiding Faith through her parkour-style stunts is challenging but really does feel natural. We can_t call Mirror_s Edge Catalyst a must-buy but it_s worth a look if you_re on the hunt for something out of the ordinary. We_ll give it 3 out of 5 naked n_s. Uber wants to fine tardy passengers who keep drivers waiting The ride-sharing service is currently testing out a program where users pay EXTRA if they are more than 2 minutes late for a pick-up. So if a driver waited 7 minutes you_d have to pay for an extra five minutes of that ride. The company is ALSO trialing out a new cancellation fee of up to 10 DOLLARS if the trip is aborted more than 2 minutes into a call. Suddenly taxis aren_t looking that bad And the government of Venezuela has introduced a TWO DAY work week for public servants to save on electricity The country is in the middle of a DEVASTATING drought bought on by El Nino. That means that the water levels required to produce hydroelectricity are running dangerously low. Other emergency measures already in place include school closures and 4-hour rolling blackouts. Officials are even considering putting the clocks FORWARD by half an hour to reduce demand in the evening. Republican Governor Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523-the so-called Religious Freedom bill - into law. The measure allows businesses to refuse service based on religious objections. North Carolina recently enacted a similar law while the governor of Georgia was forced to VETO a version after pressure from the business community. The ACLU has already condemned the new legislation saying that it flies in the face of the basic American principles of fairness justice and equality. Porsche is NOT responsible for the car accident that killed Hollywood actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas in November 2013. This according to a federal judge who made the ruling in response to a wrongful death lawsuit from Rodas_ widow. She claimed that the car-maker was liable because the Porsche Carrera GT they were driving lacked crucial safety features that could have prevented their deaths. Two other cases against Porsche from Walker_s daughter and father are still pending. And no surprises here: Gawker Media is trying to get out of paying that 140 million dollar judgement for posting Hulk Hogan_s sex tape online The website has filed new motions asking to vacate the ruling or at the very least to reduce the payout to just under 2 million. Lawyers for Gawker claim that the jury was guided by passion and prejudice instead of facts and that the damages are up to TWELVE times higher than similar awards. Carli I say we settle this once and for all: Gawker founder Nick Denton and Hulk in a wrestling ring and Hulk gets to do WHATEVER he wants to Nick for 10 minutes. The company revealed on Tuesday that it has been faking the results of fuel efficiency tests for the past 25 YEARS. All of the affected models were sold in Japan and include the eK wagon and eK Space light passenger cars as well as nearly 500 thousand cars produced for Nissan. The fraudulent reporting was identified after Nissan noticed inconsistencies in the test results. And employees at a US yogurt company are in line for a MASSIVE windfall Chobani is giving its 2 thousand workers up to 10 PERCENT of its shares. The company CEO called the bonus a mutual promise to work together with a shared purpose and responsibility.
