Description: Loosely based on Cesare Pavese's 1949 novel of the same name, this period drama centers on Ginia (Yile Yara Vianello), a country girl newly transplanted to the city of Turino with her brother Severino (Nicholas Maupas). Severino is attending college and working a job at a utility company while Ginia is employed as a seamstress at a fashion atelier downtown. One day, she meets the free-spirited Amelia (Deva Cassel) and before long Ginia finds herself swept up in the city's bohemian artist subculture.
