Donald Trump has turned his choice for running mate into a true spectacle that has voters and the media on pins and needles. Trump says he_s narrowed his choice down to four candidates but it_s believed there are two front runners: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is another big name in the mix for the VP gig. So who will it be? No one knows just yet. Trump will make the big announcement Friday morning in Manhattan. Now to a surprising appointment in British politics. New Prime Minister Theresa May has made former journalist and London Mayor Boris Johnson the country_s top diplomat Johnson a key figure in the Brexit campaign who many expected to run for Prime Minister has been named UK Foreign Secretary. It_s a move that_s left many scratching their heads mainly because Johnson has a long history of putting his foot squarely in his mouth In April he ruffled feathers by blaming US President Barack Obama_s part-Kenyan ancestry for his dislike of the British Empire. In 2007 Johnson wrote a column describing Hillary Clinton as a quote sadistic nurse in a mental hospital. According to the BBC many stunned EU diplomats think Johnson_s appointment is a big joke. And a newly released Congressional report shows that Chinese spies hacked into the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation... and that American officials tried to cover it up New documents show the Chinese government accessed a dozen computers - including those of the agency_s top officials - between 2010 and 2013. The probe found that the FDIC hid the hacks to protect the job of Chairman Martin Gruenberg. The FDIC monitors banks that aren_t in the Federal Reserve system and hacking its servers would have exposed extremely sensitive info on more than 45-hundred banks nationwide. Pretty serious stuff. If emissions continue as they are unchecked experts predict temperature increases of more than 7 DEGREES Fahrenheit within a century which could be disastrous. Lastly we have some very sad news to report about one of Canada_s most NOTORIOUS politicians Former Toronto mayor Rob Ford passed away on Tuesday after losing his battle to cancer. The 46-year-old became the butt of jokes EVERYWHERE when he admitted to smoking crack cocaine while in office. Score one for the good guys It turns out there IS a Hawaiian word for snow and Hawaiians are getting a chance to use it The summits of volcanoes Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on Hawaii_s Big Island have gotten several FEET of snow. This combined with heavy winds and low visibility has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm warning for the mountain summits But no need to worry tourists Temperatures below 9 thousand feet remain more typically Hawaiian Normally when we think about a hero we_re more likely to think of someone who saved someone else_s life than someone who saved their own. It all starts with in the newsroom with details on one of the biggest health care fraud cases in American history. Here_s Isabella Rossini with a Naked News Bulletin. Kat the US Justice Department is calling it the largest takedown of its kind. 301 health care workers have been accused of trying to defraud Medicare and other federal health insurance programs to the tune of more than 900 million dollars. More than a thousand law enforcement personnel were involved in the nationwide investigation. The charges run the gamut from conspiracy to commit health care fraud to money laundering. One of the worst offenders was a Detroit clinic that billed 36 million to Medicare. It turned out to be a front for a narcotics diversion scheme. This year_s sweep breaks last year_s record of 243 suspects charged with defrauding the government of 712 million. The International Monetary Fund is urging the US to do something about its alarming rising poverty levels. One in seven Americans now live in poverty. The IMF recommends raising minimum wage rates and offering paid maternity leave to women to encourage them to join the workforce. The agency_s new report isn_t ALL bad news. Overall the American economy is in good shape. The IMF_s projection for US growth was cut to 2.2 percent from an earlier prediction of 2.4 percent but that number_s expected to rebound next year. The new and improved Panama Canal is set to open this Sunday The 5.25 billion dollar expansion is an engineering marvel that took seven years to complete. The expansion doubles the canal_s capacity and will allow even larger ships to pass through its lock gates. It_s expected to help shave 8 billion dollars a year from global maritime costs. Here she is with a Naked News BulletinWelcome to the newsroom everyone. Manhattan_s city officials recently announced that police will no longer be arresting people for some minor offences. That includes drinking in public public urination and riding between subway cars. The offences are still ILLEGAL but instead of being arrested offenders will now get a summons and fine. Traditional television viewership is continuing to drop and NETFLIX is taking a lot of the blame. A new study says that TV viewing time fell about three percent in 2015 with Netflix accounting for about half of that. Netflix now makes up about six percent of viewing hours and that_s predicted to more than double by 2020. Personally I credit House of Cards. And 2016 marks the debut of the new and improved S-A-Ts. The pre-university exam has been made more flexible since its last update in 2005. The new version puts more emphasis on actual learning and analysis and LESS emphasis on memorization of obscure vocabulary. And to the great joy of mediocre students everywhere it no longer penalizes takers for guessing. I haven_t taken the SATs ladies but I_ve heard it can be quite intimidating. Whitney the Russian soccer team could be facing sanctions thanks to the bad behavior of its fans. Following Saturday_s match against England Russian supporters charged and attacked a section of English spectators. This followed several days of fighting in the streets of Marseille by fans of the teams. The Union of European Football Associations is also looking into allegations of racist behavior and the use of fireworks by the Russians. A decision on sanctions is scheduled for Tuesday. Fines are expected and there_s a possibility of disqualification looming if the violence continues. A home-made bomb went off at one of China_s busiest airports over the weekend. Four people were injured at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai on Sunday. According to police a 29-year-old man filled a beer bottle with explosives and threw it near the check-in counters. He then took a knife and attempted suicide. He_s currently in hospital in critical condition. And a controversial new study has some surprising findings about high cholesterol: it DOESN_T cause heart disease and might in fact be good for you The study involving 70 thousand people found that among those 60 and older WITH high cholesterol over 90 per cent lived as long or longer than those without. The team behind the study also suggested that cholesterol may in fact help fight other diseases including cancer That said the study has its share of critics. There are questions about the survey_s methodology and skeptics say that more dominant health factors among the elderly make the effects of cholesterol harder to track. So I_d say the jury is still out Whitney but maybe we don_t have to feel as bad when we_re eating eggsLucky for me I_m a vegan so I don_t really have to worry about it. It looks like a hacker who was going after news organizations is headed to jail.Pretty crazy that someone would do all that hacking just to find out what was going to be reported anyway.You_d think so but in the world of insider trading it_s all about who knows FIRST Eila. Ukrainian hacker has pleaded guilty to his part in an insider trading scheme and could be facing up to TWENTY YEARS in prison. As part of this criminal enterprise Vadym Iermolovych would hack into newswire services and access unpublished press releases. They would then use this advance knowledge to make a killing on the stock market to the tune of over 30 MILLION DOLLARS Iermolovych is one of thirty-two people who_ve been charged in connection to this operation. Mark Zuckerberg has reached out to several prominent conservatives following allegations of bias at Facebook. A recent report in Gizmodo suggested that the news curators working at Facebook were removing stories of interest to conservatives from the site_s _Trending Topics_. Zuckerberg has said a full investigation is underway and the company has stated that no evidence of bias has so far been uncovered. He plans to meet with senior Trump advisor Barry Bennett and news personality Glenn Beck on Wednesday. And it looks like Google is wading into the ride-sharing world currently dominated by Uber. The App called Wazerider is meant for carpooling and just had a successful trial run in Tel Aviv. It_s now being tested in San Francisco. The app uses Google_s Waze navigation system to learn the routes drivers use most then it matches them up with people looking for a ride in the same direction. People who use it would pay a small fee for the ride. Sounds promising. We_ll be right back. And if you_ve ever wanted to be an ASTRONAUT you_re about to get your chance Jeff Bezos_ space company Blue Origin says it will start TEST flights with human passengers as early as next YEAR. Commercial launches are expected by 2018. No word yet on how much it might cost to hitch a ride on a Blue Origin rocket but competitor Virgin Galactic is charging 250 thousand dollars for similar flights. The trip will take passengers more than 60 MILES into space Isabella.
