He plays CIA agent Evan Lake who_s devoted his life to the spy agency. So when he_s forced to retire early it_s quite a shock. But rather than go quietly into that good night Lake goes rogue. He_s hell-bent on tracking down a terrorist who tortured him during a mission years ago. With the help of a young protege played by Anton Yelchin Lake_s last mission takes him on an intercontinental journey where it seems everyone has something to hide.There_s been a lot of controversy behind the scenes with this film. It was written and directed by Paul Schrader who famously penned Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. That sounds promising but Schrader came out last month to say the project had been taken away from him and completely re-edited without his input. The whole thing has turned into a real mess. Dying of the Light is in theatres and available On Demand. Next up we have By The Gun a crime drama starring Ben Barnes as Nick Tortano. He_s an ambitious street-smart kid who_s grown up idolizing Boston mobsters. He_s eager to live the gangster lifestyle and jumps at the chance to do some of the mafia_s dirty work. Over time Nick proves himself to be a loyal soldier and gains the trust of the big boss played by Harvey Keitel. That_s when his dream finally comes true: he_s sworn in as a made man. Of course it_s not long before Nick realizes that being a made man isn_t all it_s cracked up to be. Soon he finds himself desperate to escape his life of crime. By The Gun doesn_t exactly redefine the gangster genre but manages to hit most of the right notes. The President says the operation against Islamic State forces will be an international coalition supporting Iraqi and Kurdish ground troops and will be similar to counterterrorism campaigns of the past few years. Obama has pledged to hunt down militants and their assets wherever they may be. In that same interview on Meet The press President Obama also stated that the US needs to do more in the fight against Ebola. He acknowledged that the deadly outbreak in West Africa could eventually become a threat to Americans. He said the US and other world powers need to send equipment health supplies and medical professionals to the region to keep the virus from spreading. Last week the United Nations estimated that 600 million dollars was needed in the region to help prevent further spread of the disease.It was a star-studded affair in New York_s Upper East Side Kat as hundreds of mourners gathered to say their final goodbyes to Rivers. She passed away last week at the age of 81 due to complications during surgery. Whoopi Goldberg Diane Sawyer Hugh Jackman and Howard Stern were among the big names attending the funeral. At least five hundred spectators lined the streets outside. The ceremony was described as a joyful event that felt like a Broadway show. It was packed with humor tears and fittingly it ended with a standing ovation. Now to a bizarre story from the world of sports. Another NBA team is up for sale over racist remarks. This time it_s the Atlanta Hawks. Owner Bruce Levenson is selling his controlling stake in the team over a 2012 email disparaging the team_s African American fans. Levenson who was a vocal critic of Donald Sterling during the LA Clippers fiasco voluntarily reported himself to the NBA head office. Negotiations for the team will begin soon and in the meantime Hawks CEO Steve Koonin will take over for Levenson. NO will have more sports coverage coming up a little later. Finally today Nicaraguan officials say a mysterious late-night blast in the country_s capital was likely caused by a meteorite. At around 11pm local time on Saturday night a loud bang rocked the city of Managua leaving behind a forty foot-wide crater. Scientists have not yet found any traces of a meteorite but say seismic sensors registered activity at the time of the event. Thankfully the blast occurred in an area where it posed no danger to locals. He gets SUPER cranky without his nuts Anyway the weather in Los Angeles will be sunny and - you guessed it - DRY.Now that the sleigh is a little lighter Santa can head across the pond to Eastern Ukraine. Hope he_s equipped with an air defense system though - you never know how the pro-Russian rebels are going to react to unidentified aircraft. Watch out Santa It_s Putin in disguise He_s going to try and bomb you out of the sky That was close I guess Putin_s still upset that Santa was in favor of those international sanctions on Russia.
