All right, time for some NEWS Peyton Priestly_s standing by with an update on Guantanamo Bay, security for Obamas visit to Kenya, and some staggering figures on US political advertising. Notorious military prison Guantanamo Bay COULD be closing for good. Congress has REPEATEDLY blocked the White House_s attempts to transfer prisoners to US soil, or to release them back to their home countries. The White House announced on Wednesday that a new bill had been drafted that would give the President authority to move the remaining 116 prisoners and close the facility permanently. Kenya is on a high security alert for President Obama_s visit this weekend. Airspace above the country will close prior to his arrival on Friday, and again when he leaves on Sunday. A ban on aircraft flying lower than 20 thousand feet will also be in effect for the duration of his stay. The security concerns stem from local militant group Al-Shabab, who have terrorized Kenyans with numerous attacks in recent years.And with the 2016 presidential race approaching it_s time for everyone_s LEAST favorite election byproduct: political advertising. Total spending from all parties is expected to reach a record high, surpassing 12 BILLION dollars. That_s a 22 percent increase from the 2012 campaign. The majority of the big bucks will be filtered into TV spots, but there is a new shift into ONLINE campaigning, where just under a billion dollars is expected to be spent. Which is NOTHING like Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious movies. Filming is slated to start this December in the Philippines.2015 is far from over, but it_s already been a GREAT year for Universal The studio_s enjoying its highest-grossing year EVER at the international box office. Italian police are celebrating another big win with the seizure of 1 point 7 BILLION dollars from a Mafia-connected construction firm. Officials allege that the Sicilian builders had been making deals with the Cosa Nostra to secure lucrative public contracts. Mobsters working INSIDE local government were able to influence bidding decisions in the mob_s favor. With drug-trafficking an increasingly competitive market, construction contracts have become a big money-maker for the Sicilian Mafia.And stateside, Time Warner has been ordered to fork over 230 THOUSAND dollars after harassing a customer. The cable giant INUNDATED a Texas woman with 153 telephone calls for another customer_s overdue bills, and STILL kept calling even after she sued them to stop. Time Warner argued that their customer agreement meant that the woman had given consent to be contacted. All right, when I say we_ve got a fantastic program for you today, I REALLY mean it_s fantasticIt features one of the most INSANE editions of Versus yet. 2 teams of anchors pitted against each other in an EPIC pizza bake off.And oh my god, I_ve seen some of the footage. You_re going to laugh your ass off, it_s that nutty We_ve also got a new audition. Her name is Samantha, she lives in California and you_ll immediately notice something about her, she_s HOT But first, I hope you_re ready for some Rock and Roll because Carli & Kat have a few stories to tell about their recent adventure to one of the largest rock festivals in North America. It_s called Amnesia Rockfest and here they are to tell you more. Welcome to a special ALL ACCESS edition of Turn It Up Carli and I spent a wild weekend at one of the year_s best heavy metal music festivals: Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello QuebecWhen I heard we_d be spending a weekend camping out and seeing some of my FAVORITE bands I was PUMPED.Me too. And in true rock _n roll style we packed a van with all our gear - and a couple camera men - and hit the open roadOne thing I learned about Kat early on: she_s not a fan of car ride singalongsYeah, that_s not exactly true Carli - I_m just not a fan of cheesy 80_s hair metal. Except Mother Nature had other plans, _cause we got caught in a nasty rain storm on our way in. That left us with two decisions: set up our tents in a rainsoaked field in the dark, or spend the night in the comfort of a roadside motel.Yeah REAL tough call We pulled over and settled in for the night. There_s nothing more rock _n roll than tattoos, right? I already had a few of my own but Kat didn_t. So we killed some time that night by adding some new ones.Removable of course. But yeah, we looked like total badasses. The next morning we got our campsite set up and got startedOne of the great things about having VIP passes? Avoiding lineups and getting special access to the backstage area on a BOAT.And the ride over gave us a chance to brush up on our FrenchOnce we hit land it was clear that Rockfest was going to be one awesome party.And let_s just say there was no shortage of interesting characters.That lady WAS totally hardcore. And also kind of intense. So was that dude with the crazy condom trick - it_s not what you think, people.CB) Definitely one of those things I_ll never be able to UNsee.Now it wasn_t all weird circus acts, Carli.We talked to all kinds of musicians, and one of the first bands we ran into was California punk group the Mad CaddiesLater that night Carli and I cozied up in a tent, and I have to admit I slept like a baby. Must have been all that fresh air.Yeah I loved it. But the camera guys weren_t so excited about sleeping in the great outdoors. Long story short it was a really great adventure, and we can_t wait to share all kinds of awesome new segments with our viewers in the coming weeksWe really never know what_s going to happen when we_re out there with the public. We_ve got the headlines coming up in just a moment, but we_re starting things off with our coverage of the 17th edition of the Summer Pan American Games Eila Adams is right in the mix of things outside the athlete_s village, and she joins us now. How_s it going over there Eila?There_s a TON of energy and excitement down here Kat. Thousands of athletes from 41 countries have flocked to Toronto. It might not be the Olympics, but it_s still a HUGE event in the city. And I know Torontonians have had some mixed feelings about it.That_s true - the games have caused road closures all over the city. But now that things are finally underway I think people are starting to come around There really is a buzz around the city, and especially down here near the athlete_s village I decided to see what people thought about the games, and find out which sports they were MOST looking forward to No doubt there_s something for everyone at these games Personally I can_t wait for the basketball and bowling. I mean seriously, who knew you could win a medal for bowling? Now with a few more highlights from the 2015 Pan Am Games, including the latest medal count, here is Carli BeiThanks Eila. It sounds like the Brazilian cycling team isn_t so great with directions. Over the weekend Toronto police received a report of cyclists riding illegally on the shoulder of a VERY busy highway. When the cops caught up to the riders, they realized the nine bikers were decked out in Brazilian gear. Turns out the team went out for a practice ride, took a wrong turn, and wound up stuck on the highway. They needed a police escort to get them back to the athlete_s village. Let_s hope they have better luck on race dayThe host country is definitely representing itself well so far. The Canadians pulled in 16 medals on Sunday, dominating in both men and women_s rugby competitions, as well as cycling and women_s diving contests. The strong day has the Canadians on top of the medal standings with the most golds and the most medals overall I_ll see you back here with more updates tomorrow, in the meantime, here_s a look at the medal standings

It was kinda tough at first to find someone who wanted to sit in the chair. Being the brave young women that they are, Kat and Carli eventually stepped up. But you know what was REALLY surprising. Just how hard it was for people to hit the target. It had to be dead center or you were out of luck. But don_t you worry because Kat and Carli BOTH got absolutely soaked. Kat went first, and I knew she was in trouble when the Canadian Men_s Baseball team showed up and she trash talked former major league pitcher Scott Richmond So yeah, THAT happened In your face Kat Curtis. Needless to say it was an awesome day - everyone had a lot of fun, and I have to give credit to our anchors for being such good sports. Well it looks like the people of Toronto aren_t too happy about it. An online petition has been launched demanding that Kanye be replaced with a Canadian artist. The petition - which has quickly garnered thousands of signatures - says West_s controversial public persona does not embody the values of the games. As long as they don_t replace him with Celine Dion, I_m good. In other news, it appears four members of the Cuban rowing team have defected to the United States The team_s coach says the men - who were among 150 Cuban athletes in Toronto - left and crossed the border, which was a short distance from where the rowing events were being held. Congress has REPEATEDLY blocked the White House_s attempts to transfer prisoners to US soil, or to release them back to their home countries. The White House announced on Wednesday that a new bill had been drafted that would give the President authority to move the remaining 116 prisoners and close the facility permanently. Kenya is on a high security alert for President Obama_s visit this weekend. Airspace above the country will close prior to his arrival on Friday, and again when he leaves on Sunday. A ban on aircraft flying lower than 20 thousand feet will also be in effect for the duration of his stay. The security concerns stem from local militant group Al-Shabab, who have terrorized Kenyans with numerous attacks in recent years.And with the 2016 presidential race approaching it_s time for everyone_s LEAST favorite election byproduct: political advertising. Total spending from all parties is expected to reach a record high, surpassing 12 BILLION dollars. That_s a 22 percent increase from the 2012 campaign. Except Mother Nature had other plans, _cause we got caught in a nasty rain storm on our way in. That left us with two decisions: set up our tents in a rainsoaked field in the dark, or spend the night in the comfort of a roadside motel.Yeah REAL tough call We pulled over and settled in for the night. There_s nothing more rock _n roll than tattoos, right? I already had a few of my own but Kat didn_t. So we killed some time that night by adding some new ones.Removable of course. But yeah, we looked like total badasses. The next morning we got our campsite set up and got startedOne of the great things about having VIP passes? Avoiding lineups and getting special access to the backstage area on a BOAT.And the ride over gave us a chance to brush up on our FrenchOnce we hit land it was clear that Rockfest was going to be one awesome party.And let_s just say there was no shortage of interesting characters.That lady WAS totally hardcore. And also kind of intense. So was that dude with the crazy condom trick - it_s not what you think, people.CB) Definitely one of those things I_ll never be able to UNsee.Now it wasn_t all weird circus acts, Carli.We talked to all kinds of musicians, and one of the first bands we ran into was California punk group the Mad CaddiesLater that night Carli and I cozied up in a tent, and I have to admit I slept like a baby. Must have been all that fresh air.Yeah I loved it. But the camera guys weren_t so excited about sleeping in the great outdoors. It might not be the Olympics, but it_s still a HUGE event in the city. And I know Torontonians have had some mixed feelings about it.That_s true - the games have caused road closures all over the city. But now that things are finally underway I think people are starting to come around There really is a buzz around the city, and especially down here near the athlete_s village I decided to see what people thought about the games, and find out which sports they were MOST looking forward to No doubt there_s something for everyone at these games Personally I can_t wait for the basketball and bowling. I mean seriously, who knew you could win a medal for bowling? Now with a few more highlights from the 2015 Pan Am Games, including the latest medal count, here is Carli BeiThanks Eila. It sounds like the Brazilian cycling team isn_t so great with directions. Over the weekend Toronto police received a report of cyclists riding illegally on the shoulder of a VERY busy highway. When the cops caught up to the riders, they realized the nine bikers were decked out in Brazilian gear. Turns out the team went out for a practice ride, took a wrong turn, and wound up stuck on the highway. They needed a police escort to get them back to the athlete_s village. Let_s hope they have better luck on race dayThe host country is definitely representing itself well so far. The Canadians pulled in 16 medals on Sunday, dominating in both men and women_s rugby competitions, as well as cycling and women_s diving contests. Well it looks like the people of Toronto aren_t too happy about it. An online petition has been launched demanding that Kanye be replaced with a Canadian artist. The petition - which has quickly garnered thousands of signatures - says West_s controversial public persona does not embody the values of the games. As long as they don_t replace him with Celine Dion, I_m good. In other news, it appears four members of the Cuban rowing team have defected to the United States The team_s coach says the men - who were among 150 Cuban athletes in Toronto - left and crossed the border, which was a short distance from where the rowing events were being held. One man - Orlando Sotolongo - won a silver medal before skipping town. Agents for the athletes say harsh economic conditions inside of Cuba drove the men to defect.
