Batten down the hatches - the World Meteorological Organization is warning that this year_s El Nino will be one of the WORST on record The weather system is related to warming in the Pacific Ocean, which is now more than 4 degrees Fahrenheit higher than usual. This puts it on track to match or surpass the devastating 1997 to 98 season. El Nino_s far-reaching influence will make heatwaves hotter, raise the risks of flooding, and increase the number of category 4 & 5-level hurricanes. A new survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the number of US smokers has dropped to just 14 point 9 percent. The figures are the lowest since 1997, when nearly a quarter of Americans identified as smokers. Men are more likely than women to light up, while those under the age of 65 reported smoking more than seniors. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the US. And make sure you look up to the skies this week or you_ll miss out on one of the universe_s best light shows The annual Leonid meteor shower is expected to peak Tuesday night, with experts predicting prime viewing time in the early hours of Wednesday between midnight and dawn. Elise Laurenne is standing by to explain, in a Naked News bulletin. Kat, The Panama Papers consist of more than 11 MILLION documents from the 1970 to this year, taken from the files of Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca. The data purports to show how dozens of world leaders and other members of the international elite conspired to launder money and avoid paying taxes The papers were passed to a German newspaper a year ago, and then shared with 107 different media groups across the world. Some of the famous names appearing in the leaked documents: Icelandic Prime Minister Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson. Critics are calling for his resignation after it was revealed that he failed to declare millions of dollars of investments he held in an offshore account. Argentina_s President reportedly also failed to disclose millions in foreign-held accounts and companies, as did Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. This is especially embarrassing as Mr Poroshenko had vowed to eliminate such corruption in Ukrainian politics. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not specifically listed, but several members of his inner circle ARE and have been linked to a BILLION dollar money laundering scheme. In a huge blow for British Prime Minister David Cameron who has previously promised to get tough on tax evasion, investments made by his FATHER are detailed, as are several other senior members of the Conservative party. Representatives from Mossack Fonseca have so far denied any allegations of wrongdoing. Kat, just to note: using offshore companies is not illegal. Using them to avoid paying taxes or to hide assets IS, howeverWith 11 million pages, it sounds like we_re just getting the tip of the ICEBERG. It will be VERY interesting to see how this one unfolds. The 4-set thriller was slowed by rain delays, but in the end, Djokovic once again proved to be too much for Federer, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. The win marks the TENTH Grand Slam title in Novak_s career, and his second US Open trophy. Just like at Wimbledon, the fans in attendance were clearly on Federer_s side. Mariota looked SENSATIONAL against the Bucs, tossing FOUR touchdown passes and finishing with a PERFECT quarterback rating as the Titans rolled to a 42-14 win. Winston - the top overall pick in the draft - had a much rougher day at the office. His very first pass was intercepted for a touchdown and he was sacked 4 times. Floyd Mayweather capped off a perfect career Saturday night in Las Vegas Depending on how you see it, Mayweather either put on a brilliant display of boxing, or picked an extremely weak opponent in Andre Berto. Some of the famous names appearing in the leaked documents: Icelandic Prime Minister Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson. Critics are calling for his resignation after it was revealed that he failed to declare millions of dollars of investments he held in an offshore account. Argentina_s President reportedly also failed to disclose millions in foreign-held accounts and companies, as did Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. This is especially embarrassing as Mr Poroshenko had vowed to eliminate such corruption in Ukrainian politics. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not specifically listed, but several members of his inner circle ARE and have been linked to a BILLION dollar money laundering scheme. In a huge blow for British Prime Minister David Cameron who has previously promised to get tough on tax evasion, investments made by his FATHER are detailed, as are several other senior members of the Conservative party. Representatives from Mossack Fonseca have so far denied any allegations of wrongdoing. Kat, just to note: using offshore companies is not illegal.
