To infinity and beyond - and sooner than you think SpaceX founder Elon Musk has laid out a timeline for landing humans on Mars. At the annual Code Conference in California, Musk claimed SpaceX would be able to transport people to the Red Planet within the next decade. Musk surprised attendees by saying he was a big fan of the Matt Damon movie The Martian, and felt it was about 80-percent accurate. Not bad, Hollywood Of course, getting to Mars is only half the battle. Musk plans on unveiling an architectural plan for colonization at another conference this fall. Soccer superstar Lionel Messi made his first appearance at his tax evasion trial in Barcelona Thursday. The 28-year old Argentinean and his father are accused of using a chain of fake companies to avoid paying more than 4.5 million dollars in taxes. Both men deny any wrongdoing. During his testimony, Messi claimed he had no knowledge of any fraudulent activity, and that he left his finances to his team of advisers. If found guilty, Messi and his father could face up to two years in prison, plus fines equal to the amount defrauded. A verdict is expected next week. And for tech geeks it_s the most wonderful time of the year Apple has sent out invites for a major press event scheduled for June 13th, which coincides with the first day of the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. Like most of Apple_s public events, this one is shrouded in secrecy. Speculation is the company will be unveiling a bunch of major software updates. That should include the unveiling of iOS 10, a look at the redesigned App Store, and a rumored version of Siri for your home. Eila Adams is kicking off the show today with Wheelz, and she_s all about Consumer Reports annual auto reliability surveyThis report is always a big deal in the car industry Peyton, and something potential car buyers pay a LOT of attention to. As they should. It_s a must read for ANYONE who_s thinking about buying a car. So any surprises here?A few actually, overall it was a great year for Japanese automakers and Tesla got a bit of a downgrade. Here are the highlights. Welcome inside Wheelz everyone. Let_s start with the good. Consumer Reports used survey results from 740-thousand subscribers to produce its results. When all the numbers were crunched, Lexus, Toyota, and Audi were the brands that came out on top. It_s the second straight year that Lexus and Toyota held down the number one and two spots. In fact, one of those two brands has topped the list every year since 2011. As a matter of fact, five Japanese automakers cracked the top ten. Things weren_t so rosy for Acura and Cadillac. They earned the dubious distinction of being the companies that took the biggest fall in the 2015 rankings, dropping seven spots to 18th and 25th, respectively. In-car electronics were a big issue for both brands, especially in Acura_s RLX and TLX sedans. Customers were less than impressed with Cadillac_s CUE infotainment system. That was actually a common theme across a lot of brands, and the reason is simple. The automotive industry is struggling to keep up with new technology. Our smartphones are updated every year, but a car_s production cycle can sometimes last 6 or 7 years before major changes are made. New transmissions were one of the other biggest complaints from consumers, and really hurt brands like Honda, Nissan, and Jeep. The new designs were aimed at improving fuel economy, which has become a key factor for car buyers. Instead, customers complained about jerky shifting and other transmission problems that led to a pretty unpleasant ride. That brings us to the biggest shocker from this year_s report: the fall of Tesla. I_m sure you_ll recall that the Tesla Model S once received the highest performance score EVER from Consumer Reports, but reliability is another matter altogether The Model S was slapped with a worse than average reliability rating. The mag cites issues with the car_s drivetrain, center console, charging equipment, and other minor issues. As a result, it_s no longer on Consumer Reports_ recommended buy list. Tesla_s already made it clear that it will be addressing the most common problems via software updates. And when it comes to the very worst offenders, we hope you don_t own one of these five cars: the Fiat 500L, the Ford Fiesta, the Jeep Cherokee, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the Chevy Suburban. They were the lowest ranking models of all. All in all, Consumer Reports_ reliability survey is a MUST READ for ANYONE in the market for a car. I_m Eila Adams and I hope YOU enjoyed the ride

Isabella, with President Obama_s historic trip to Cuba, a new poll from CBS News and the New York Times shows that nearly 60 percent of Americans FAVOR, re-establishing ties with the country. A similar number support ending the decades-long trade embargo. When asked if improving diplomatic ties would lead to more democracy for Cubans, half of those polled thought it would make no difference at all. One area where it IS making a difference, is on the economic front. With airlines about to make daily flights and some Cuban hotels being run by American companies, CRUISE lines are getting in on the action. Cuban officials have given approval to Carnival Corporation, the parent company of several major cruise lines including PRINCESS, to start sailing to the island from Miami beginning in May. Port stops will include Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba. And, Hulk Hogan has been awarded an additional 25 million dollars in his sex tape lawsuit against Gawker Media The jury handed the former wrestling champ the extra cash as PUNITIVE damages. That_s on top of the 115 million Gawker was ordered to pay LAST week for publishing the tape. Gawker is confident the ruling will be overturned on appeal, claiming that the jury was not allowed to hear crucial evidence that would support their First Amendment claim. It all starts with in the newsroom with details on one of the biggest health care fraud cases in American history. Here_s Isabella Rossini with a Naked News Bulletin. Kat, the US Justice Department is calling it the largest takedown of its kind. 301 health care workers have been accused of trying to defraud Medicare and other federal health insurance programs to the tune of more than 900 million dollars. More than a thousand law enforcement personnel were involved in the nationwide investigation. The charges run the gamut from conspiracy to commit health care fraud to money laundering. One of the worst offenders was a Detroit clinic that billed 36 million to Medicare. It turned out to be a front for a narcotics diversion scheme. This year_s sweep breaks last year_s record of 243 suspects charged with defrauding the government of 712 million. The International Monetary Fund is urging the US to do something about its alarming rising poverty levels. One in seven Americans now live in poverty. The IMF recommends raising minimum wage rates and offering paid maternity leave to women to encourage them to join the workforce. The agency_s new report isn_t ALL bad news. Overall, the American economy is in good shape. The IMF_s projection for US growth was cut to 2.2 percent from an earlier prediction of 2.4 percent, but that number_s expected to rebound next year. The new and improved Panama Canal is set to open this Sunday The 5.25 billion dollar expansion is an engineering marvel that took seven years to complete. The expansion doubles the canal_s capacity and will allow even larger ships to pass through its lock gates. It_s expected to help shave 8 billion dollars a year from global maritime costs. A study at Johns Hopkins University is looking for religious leaders who are willing to take psilocybin, a psychoactive compound found in magic mushrooms. The study is hoping to see how the mystical experiences on the drug stack up against other mystical experiences the religious leaders have had, and also how their religious beliefs shape their experience. Ah, for the innocent days when a priest, a rabbi, and an imam would just walk into a BAR Looks like someone took the sentence Marriage is going to the dogs a little too literally. A recent canine wedding in India saw the groom Shagun joined in holy matrimony with the bride Shaguniya. The ceremony was done according to Hindu traditions and was attended by more than 5-thousand people. I know that for dogs, the seven year itch happens after just one year, but still, that is one lucky bitch. And fans of The Princess Bride will be either happy or horrified to know that R.O.U.S.es - or Rodents of Unusual Size - aren_t just in the movies anymore. Tony Smith, a gas engineer in London, recently came across a giant dead rat near a children_s playground. Though the man_s claim that the rat was FOUR FEET LONG and weighed TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS has been debated online, one thing is clear: we_re going to need a bigger cat. Don_t go away.
