Of course, when it comes to sci-fi, I trust Kat_s judgement above all else so let_s hear what SHE has to say Fresh off his surprise bad-guy turn in last year_s Interstellar, Matt Damon returns to space in the sci-fi survival flick, The Martian. Matt plays Mark Watney, a botanist-turned-astronaut sent to Mars to help cultivate a sustainable food source. When an unexpected sandstorm threatens the mission, Mark and the rest of the Ares 3 crew are ordered to evacuate, or face being stranded on the red planet indefinitely. Debris from the storm interferes with Mark_s spacesuit and his vital signs monitor stops working. The rest of the crew presume him dead and have no choice but to leave him behind. Here_s Matt talking about what his character will need to do to survive. Unlike the science-heavy scenes of Interstellar, The Martian keeps things simple and focuses on the human side of the story - and it isn_t just Mark who is suffering. His crewmates feel tremendous guilt at leaving a man behind, especially commander Jessica Chastain. Director Ridley Scott helms this one and is no stranger to space-he was behind the classic film Alien as well as 2012_s Prometheus. But as Mr Scott is about to explain, there_s one MAJOR difference with The Martian. Ridley Scott has put together a realistic thrill ride that will have you glued to your seat. Matt Damon puts together an amazing performance and the supporting cast of Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara and Sean Bean anchor the rescue efforts with a determination that demonstrates the best of the human spirit. Ratings for Season 2 were way up, which means that we could be seeing a lot MORE couples on reality TV wearing a LOT less. Brian Williams is coming back to TV. The former NBC Nightly News host has been out of the spotlight since he was suspended in February for embellishing his personal involvement in news stories. Instead of returning to his cushy 10 million dollar-a-year position helming NBC_s nightly News, Brian will be anchoring live breaking news for cable offshoot MSNBC. Although we_re sure Brian will be able to make it sounds a lot more important than it really isAnd coming to the small screen, it_s the much-anticipated adaptation of Steven Spielberg_s 2002 thriller, Minority Report. Set in the year 2065, the show follows a trio of siblings who can predict crime. Unfortunately their abilities are attracting the WRONG kind of attention. Angie Heyward_s got her crosshairs on a pizza delivery driver who did the unthinkable. Here she is to explain. Thanks, Kat. Pizza Pizza is the largest pizza chain in Canada and like many other pizza places, they offer a 40 minutes or it_s free guarantee. It_s one of their selling points, so when a customer_s pizza is late, you can_t blame them for expecting it to be free. So when Nadisha Mendes ordered from Pizza Pizza recently, and the pizza hadn_t arrived within the allotted time, she thought she_d gotten lucky. I_m speculating about this part, but I_m figuring that when it arrived a couple of minutes later, it was extra-tasty because, let_s be honest, free food tastes better. But twenty minutes later things started to go sour. Her phone started pinging with text messages - FROM THE PIZZA DRIVER Seems he was not entirely pleased about giving away a free pizza and accused Nadisha of STRATEGIZING on how to GET a free pizza. He accused her of not picking up the phone when he claims he called before the 40-minute deadline. He also said she was, and I quote, selling out her conscience and ethics for a twenty dollar pizza. Okay, that_s pretty boobish. I mean, it_s not like they_re not going to know WHO sent the texts. But if had stopped there, this might not have become a story. But he DIDN_T stop there. Nope. He dove in headfirst and decided to INSULT HER Quote: Maybe you really shouldnt be eating such a big pizza all to yourself this late at night even if its free, because you looked like you could lose a few pounds too... Endquote. Oh, no he didn_t? OH, yes he did - and then he doubled down Wow, you_re fat AND you have no pride that free pizza mustve really been worth taking a beating with insults from a stranger. Yikes. Unsurprisingly, this unnamed exemplar of professionalism was promptly sacked by Pizza Pizza. And I_m gonna guess he won_t be getting a glowing reference, either. But hey, he WILL be getting an award. Of sorts. From us. Yes, Mr. delivery man, that_s right. Not for being late - we know that happens. The sexual harassment suit against former Fox News head Roger Ailes looks to have gotten a lot stronger According to a Vanity Fair article, multiple women have audio tapes of Ailes harassing them, which could contribute to a possible 8-figure settlement Ailes_ lawyers are currently arguing that plaintiff Gretchen Carlson should be dealt with in private arbitration. An American BASE jumper was rescued early Monday after being injured and stuck on a cliff in the Swiss Alps, for 13 hours The 21-year-old got slammed into the cliff when his parachute dragged him in the wrong direction. So I hear the GONG show may be making a comebackIt_s an oldie but a goodie Kat The original NBC run of The Gong Show ended almost FORTY years ago, in 1978, but now, thanks to producer Will Arnett, it_s ready to make a comeback on ABCIf Will Arnett is attached to the project, I_m IN. As far as I_m concerned, he_s got the sexiest voice in show bizSorry to tell you he won_t be hosting it, but as the title suggests, the REAL star of the show, is The Gong Andy Warhol once said In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes. And while he may have been right in terms of predicting the internet, he was VASTLY overestimating attention spans Which is why it_s such a great time to bring back The Gong Show The 10 episode revival will bring internet oddballs with untraditional talents to perform in front of a live studio audience. Celebrity judges will then assess their performance and often cut them off with the infamous You_re done gong The series, which had a brief cable revival in 2008, is still awaiting an air date. The Walking Dead has only been gone since April but AMC is already gearing up for its return The network has announced that the Season 7 premiere on October 23rd will be followed by an HOUR-AND-A-HALF long version of its companion show The TALKING Dead Which will fittingly be taping in front of two thousand people at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery And if you_re wondering how host Chris Hardwick will fill that time, TWELVE actors from the Season 6 cliffhanger will be in attendance There_s also a lottery to win a trip to that taping being held at talkingdeadsweeps.com TV has seen some very odd crossover episodes over the years, but this one might take the cake Steven Avery, subject of the award-winning documentary series Making A Murderer, appeared this week on Dr. Phil Not in person, of course, as he_s still in prison. But he called in to his fiancee at the time, and ended up having the kind of heart-to-heart with the host that_s Dr. Phil_s stock-in-trade Naturally, Steven Avery ended his engagement before the show even aired, working hard to get a statement on Facebook calling his former flame a gold digger. And while I don_t fully sympathize, getting dumped by a guy who might never get out of prison has to hurt And if Making a Murderer is at one end of the Netflix original series spectrum, we_re going all the way to the other end for this week_s, Stream This The Ranch is Netflix_s stab at a conventional multi-camera sitcom, but as you_d expect from the streaming service, it_s still something you wouldn_t quite see on network TV. There_s some swearing. There_s some edge. And the central family pairs traditional sitcom stars Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson with acclaimed actors Sam Elliott and Debra Winger as the parents The Ranch may not be the funniest thing on TV, but it_s an experiment worth checking out And for fans of That 70s_ Show, Kutcher and Masterson will be joined for some upcoming episodes by their old buddy Wilmer Valderrama.
