She_s got a Naked News Bulletin including an update on the Flint water crisis Peyton the FBI has joined the investigation into the Flint Michigan contaminated water scandal The multi-agency effort also includes officials from the EPA_s Criminal Investigation Unit and a special prosecutor appointed by Michigan_s Attorney General. The probe was prompted by the contamination of the city_s water supply which exposed tens of thousands of residents to lead-laced water. There has been a confirmed case of the Zika virus being transmitted through sexual contact in the US The patient from Texas was diagnosed after having sex with someone who had recently returned from Venezuela. Although it_s not the first reported instance it could change how fast and how far the infection spreads. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a statement urging anyone diagnosed with the virus to use protection during sexual activity. And a passenger was sucked out of a plane in midair after an explosion blew a hole in the fuselage A Daallo Airlines Flight was forced to make an emergency landing at a nearby Somalian airport. The man_s body has since been located and no other fatalities were reported. Officials have yet to confirm the presence of a bomb but initial reports suggest that explosive residue has been found around the damaged area. Here_s Isabella Rossini with a Naked News bulletin. More bad news for popular restaurant chain Chipotle. The company is now facing CRIMINAL charges over an outbreak of norovirus at a California location. State officials have opened an investigation into an August flare-up of the virus that affected dozens of customers and employees in Simi Valley. This comes after a recent outbreak in Boston that sickened more than a hundred college students last month and a rash of E. coli cases traced back to Chipotle restaurants in nine states. A Canadian energy company has filed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against the US government over the cancellation of the Keystone pipeline. TransCanada says that President Barack Obama overstepped his power when he vetoed the proposed pipeline last November. At the time the President said that the project would not make a long-term contribution to the US economy. In court papers filed under the North American Free Trade Agreement TransCanada called the decision arbitrary and unjustified and is asking for 15 billion in damages. And one of the most popular department stores in the US is set to embark on a MAJOR restructuring. Because of disappointing sales last year Macy_s has announced that they_ll be cutting 45 hundred jobs and closing 36 of it_s 850 stores. Investors have lost faith in the company_s direction with shares losing 40 percent of their value in the last 12 months. The company hopes to tighten its belt to the tune of 400 million dollars annually. It_s not ALL bad news though Peyton. Macy_s plans to shift focus to its online and mobile business which grew by 25 percent over the holiday period.That_s a good move because online is DEFINITELY where it_s at thank you Isabella Now with a look ahead to her very first weather report of 2016 let_s say hello to Natasha Olenski. What are you kicking off the year with Nat? Peyton I_m celebrating the anniversary of one of the best-known TV commercials of all time. It came out in the eighties and to this day EVERYONE is familiar with the catch phrase. It was thirty two years ago when octogenarian Clara Peller hit TV screens with the three words that would boost Wendy_s fast food sales by over THIRTY percent AND make Clara a huge celebrity. Here is Isabella Rossini.Kat we_ll begin with Brian Williams who has just been given a six month suspension without pay due to his repeated lies about coming under enemy fire during the Iraq War. NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke called Williams_ actions inexcusable saying that he had jeopardized the trust millions of Americans had placed in NBC News. However Burke added that Williams deserved a second chance. The suspension will cost the NBC Nightly News anchorman an estimated five million dollars.Williams isn_t the only media personality in the news today Daily Show host Jon Stewart STUNNED fans on Tuesday evening with the announcement that he_s leaving the show later this year. Stewart_s been the face of the program for more than fifteen years but he told the audience that it was time for someone else to have the opportunity. When exactly he_ll choose to sign off remains unclear. His contract expires in September but he says he could leave as early as July or as late as December. He will be sorrily missed Kat back to you. We_ll have more on Brian Williams and John Stewart in the wrap up. In other news today it_s another MAJOR milestone for Apple. The tech giant has just become America_s FIRST 700 BILLION dollar company When it comes to value Apple is truly in a league of its own. The next largest company is Exxon Mobil and they_re worth a paltry 382 billion. Apple_s value was given a boost with the announcement of a new partnership with First Solar. They_re building a 3-thousand acre solar energy farm that will funnel electricity to Apple_s new campus in Silicon Valley. No this is NOT a joke. 26-year old Daniel Boria pulled the stunt to promote his cleaning products company. Boria planned on using his parachute to land at the Calgary Stampede fairgrounds but was blown off course and instead landed in a field a few miles away. Police were waiting for him when he landed and he_s been charged with one count of mischief. No doubt Borea feels like the night he spent in jail was well worth the publicity he received. There_s trouble a-brewin_ on Reddit So far more than 200-thousand Redditors have signed an online petition calling for the resignation of Ellen Pao the site_s interim chief executive. The reason? Ms. Pao gave the heave-ho to Victoria Taylor the uber-popular director of talent behind the site_s well-known Ask Me Anything subreddit. As retaliation hundreds of other subreddit pages on topics including science gaming history and cinema were shut down in protest. Now a petition at Change.org has garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures to see Pao removed before she destroys the Reddit community. Speaking of protests here_s one that_s a bit more visual in nature. These jarring photos have been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter. They_re aimed at stopping Spain_s annual running of the bulls which began on Monday at the famous San Fermin festival in Pamplona. Hundreds of animal activists - many from PETA - lay down outside the entrance to the Pamplona bullring painted red or wearing horns. They say the practice abuses and harms bulls which is kinda hard to argue. The US destroyed Japan at the Women_s World Cup and now the two nations will clash in a much HIGHER-stakes battle GIANT ROBOTS. Japanese robotics company Suidobashi Heavy Industries has accepted an invite from America_s MegaBots which was put out via viral video. Suidobashi wasn_t intimidated by the American firepower. The company_s founder says giant robots are a key part of Japanese culture. Which okay kinda weird but sure. He also promised to up the ante. No word yet on WHEN this awesome robot clash will happen but we will definitely keep you postedAnd if you_ve been on Twitter this week you may have noticed that the site_s now asking for your birthday info. The site_s trying to lure users in by promising to send them animated balloons on their big day which sounds pretty great. But the REAL reason is to figure out what demographic you fit into so they know which ads to place in your feed No such thing as a free lunch OR digital birthday balloons apparently. Pretty sneaky. Supplies are at their highest point in eighty years and officials say they are literally running out of places to store it all. If things keep up at their current pace storage facilities will hit their limit in mid-April and some think oil could fall as low as twenty dollars a barrel It_s more bad news for US retailer Target. The company has announced a restructuring plan that includes thousands of job cuts and 2 billion dollars in cost-saving measures. The majority of the job losses will come from Target_s headquarters. CEO Brian Cornell says the moves are all about cutting complexity and making the retailer more competitive. This just after Target announced plans to completely exit out of Canada laying off over 17 thousand people and amassing billions in losses. Meanwhile Oprah Winfrey is laying off close to 200 staff members after announcing her Chicago-based Harpo Studios complex will be shutting down. On Tuesday it was announced that all operations will be moved to her Los Angeles location. Oprah released a statement saying she was sad to leave the Windy City studios she called home for 26 years. It_s hard to know EXACTLY what the employee was trying to say but I think we know who the BIGGER knob is An Italian woman is facing JAIL TIME for not doing enough cooking and cleaning According to her husband the woman cooks so rarely that food is often thrown out and he is forced to live in conditions with poor hygiene. The unnamed 40-year-old has been charged with Mistreatment of the Family and now faces up to SIX years in prison. Well now journalists poring over Williams past reports have found many other inconsistencies. This includes his coverage in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina the Arab Spring uprising in Egypt and facing rocket fire in Israel. The company is now facing CRIMINAL charges over an outbreak of norovirus at a California location. State officials have opened an investigation into an August flare-up of the virus that affected dozens of customers and employees in Simi Valley. This comes after a recent outbreak in Boston that sickened more than a hundred college students last month and a rash of E. coli cases traced back to Chipotle restaurants in nine states. A Canadian energy company has filed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against the US government over the cancellation of the Keystone pipeline. TransCanada says that President Barack Obama overstepped his power when he vetoed the proposed pipeline last November. At the time the President said that the project would not make a long-term contribution to the US economy. In court papers filed under the North American Free Trade Agreement TransCanada called the decision arbitrary and unjustified and is asking for 15 billion in damages. And one of the most popular department stores in the US is set to embark on a MAJOR restructuring. Because of disappointing sales last year Macy_s has announced that they_ll be cutting 45 hundred jobs and closing 36 of it_s 850 stores. Investors have lost faith in the company_s direction with shares losing 40 percent of their value in the last 12 months. The company hopes to tighten its belt to the tune of 400 million dollars annually. It_s not ALL bad news though Peyton. Stewart_s been the face of the program for more than fifteen years but he told the audience that it was time for someone else to have the opportunity. There_s trouble a-brewin_ on Reddit So far more than 200-thousand Redditors have signed an online petition calling for the resignation of Ellen Pao the site_s interim chief executive. The reason? Ms. Pao gave the heave-ho to Victoria Taylor the uber-popular director of talent behind the site_s well-known Ask Me Anything subreddit. As retaliation hundreds of other subreddit pages on topics including science gaming history and cinema were shut down in protest. Now a petition at Change.org has garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures to see Pao removed before she destroys the Reddit community. Speaking of protests here_s one that_s a bit more visual in nature. These jarring photos have been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter. Meanwhile Oprah Winfrey is laying off close to 200 staff members after announcing her Chicago-based Harpo Studios complex will be shutting down.
