Let_s turn to Isabella Rossini who_s got the results of a 5 year investigation by the European Union. It_s not good news for Google Peyton and it COULD cost the search giant tens of BILLIONS Here_s what_s going on. The competition branch of the European Union is accusing Google of abusing its dominance online. EU officials claim Google favors its own shopping links over those of other online vendors. The case is the result of a five year investigation into Google that was launched following complaints from Microsoft Tripadvisor and many others since 2010. If found guilty of anti-competitive behavior Google could face billions in fines and might have to make major changes to the way it does business in Europe. In other news President Barack Obama has recommended to Congress that Cuba be removed from the U.S. government_s list of state sponsors of terrorism. After the announcement the Cuban government praised Washington for its fair decision to remove them from the controversial list. The designation put Cuba in the same category as serious offenders including Syria and Iran - had been a major sticking point in previous negotiations. And it turns out the US Congress will have a say on the recently agreed-upon nuclear deal between Iran and the White House. A bipartisan bill has been passed in the Senate that will give members of congress the right to reject any final deal with Iran. However President Obama still retains the right to veto their decision. An outline agreement on Iran_s nuclear program was reached earlier this month and delegates have set a June 30th deadline to iron out the details. We_ll be right back

What_s that all about?Well if you_ve been paying attention to the games you_ve probably noticed that each sport has it_s own special logo. I thought the signs were a bit confusing so I brought a few of them with me to test the public Let_s see how people did. Okay so some people did better than others but overall I_d say the sport logos could use a little more work Now for more of the daily highlights from the games we_ll send you over to Carli BeiThanks Eila Organizers may have had trouble drumming up support in the weeks leading up to the games but now that they_re here people are singing a different tune More than 20-thousand tickets were sold on the first full day of competition in Toronto. The very first event was a women_s water polo event between Puerto Rico and Venezuela last Tuesday which was attended by a whopping 25 people. But things have totally turned around since. Overall more than 850-thousand tickets have been sold so far. It was all about the water sports on Day 3. The Canadians once again led the way by hauling in eight medals padding their lead in the overall medal count. There was also a pretty scary moment from the women_s weightlifting event. Venezuela_s Genesis Rodriguez Gomez was attempting to lift 106 kilograms when THIS happened. She fainted as she tried to lift the bar but was thankfully unhurt. And not only that she even came back later and lifted MORE weight to claim a silver medal Amazing That_s the latest from the Pan Am Games Now here_s a look at the latest medal count

I_m Eila Adams and you_re tuned in to NAKED NEWS Katherine Curtis has been tracking some of the BIGGEST stories from around the globe including RECORD results from Apple mixed economic news in the US and MORE bad news for Russia. Eila Apple has just announced the biggest revenue quarter of any US company EVER They had a record 74.6 billion dollars in revenue and a record 18 BILLION in net profit. Those numbers FAR surpassed ANY analysts expectations. So what led to the surge? iPhone sales of course. The company_s new larger-screen 6 and 6 Plus models were flying off the shelves. Apple sold more than 74 million of them worldwide in the quarter. And the momentum should keep going for a while because their highly anticipated iWatch is set for release this April.The forecast isn_t quite as sunny on the US economic front. Business investment spending has dropped for a fourth consecutive month. Economists say it could be a sign that slowing worldwide growth might finally be having an impact stateside. A strengthening American dollar has also made US exports more expensive. However it isn_t ALL bad news. Consumer attitudes remain upbeat and December saw home sale hit their highest levels since June 2008.And in Russia things are going from bad to worse. Rating agency Standard and Poor_s has just downgraded the country_s credit rating to junk status Half of Russia_s government earnings come from oil and gas exports. And with oil prices falling at staggering rates the nation has been pushed to the brink of recession. The S&P rating cut will make it much harder and pricier for Moscow to borrow money. Meanwhile the Russian ruble has hit all-time lows losing more than forty percent of its value against the US dollar. I mean it_s the middle of winter and there were a few days that I didn_t need a jacket to go outside I know I_m secretly enjoying the warmth but I know that something is seriously wrongOverall yes but this year scientists say we have El Nino to thank for the warm weather. Welcome to the newsroom everyone. The weather phenomenon helped push January temperatures to more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit ABOVE normal. According to NASA that_s the hottest January since records began back in 1880. Weather experts believe that El Nino has now PEAKED but that doesn_t mean that global warming will slow down. This year is already on track to outpace last year as the HOTTEST on record In related news the warm waters that El Nino is causing has attracted tens of THOUSANDS of black tip sharks just off the coast of Palm Beach County Florida. Professor Stephen Kajiura of Florida Atlantic University took THIS stunning video of the sharks while studying their migration patterns. Around 30 percent of global shark attacks took place in Florida last year with the majority of bites coming from black tips. And US commercial flights will once again travel to CUBA The two reconciled countries have signed off on a deal that will see up to 110 daily flights between American airports and nine Cuban cities. US airlines are expected to commence flights in the next 6 months but it won_t be as easy for their Cuban airline counterparts. Carriers from the island nation will have to apply for special permission on a case-by-case basis. Isabella it_s hard to believe but it_s been 53 YEARS since the last commercial flights between the US and CubaIt_s such a beautiful country-I think we can expect tourism to EXPLODE once regular flights are reinstated. And NIELSEN is now using Facebook alongside Twitter for its Social Content Ratings. These ratings track conversations on the social networks using posts Tweets shares and likes. The competition branch of the European Union is accusing Google of abusing its dominance online. EU officials claim Google favors its own shopping links over those of other online vendors. The case is the result of a five year investigation into Google that was launched following complaints from Microsoft Tripadvisor and many others since 2010. If found guilty of anti-competitive behavior Google could face billions in fines and might have to make major changes to the way it does business in Europe. In other news President Barack Obama has recommended to Congress that Cuba be removed from the U.S. government_s list of state sponsors of terrorism. After the announcement the Cuban government praised Washington for its fair decision to remove them from the controversial list. The designation put Cuba in the same category as serious offenders including Syria and Iran - had been a major sticking point in previous negotiations. And it turns out the US Congress will have a say on the recently agreed-upon nuclear deal between Iran and the White House. A bipartisan bill has been passed in the Senate that will give members of congress the right to reject any final deal with Iran. However President Obama still retains the right to veto their decision. An outline agreement on Iran_s nuclear program was reached earlier this month and delegates have set a June 30th deadline to iron out the details. The very first event was a women_s water polo event between Puerto Rico and Venezuela last Tuesday which was attended by a whopping 25 people. But things have totally turned around since. Overall more than 850-thousand tickets have been sold so far. It was all about the water sports on Day 3. The Canadians once again led the way by hauling in eight medals padding their lead in the overall medal count. There was also a pretty scary moment from the women_s weightlifting event. Venezuela_s Genesis Rodriguez Gomez was attempting to lift 106 kilograms when THIS happened. She fainted as she tried to lift the bar but was thankfully unhurt. Eila Apple has just announced the biggest revenue quarter of any US company EVER They had a record 74.6 billion dollars in revenue and a record 18 BILLION in net profit. Those numbers FAR surpassed ANY analysts expectations. So what led to the surge? iPhone sales of course. The company_s new larger-screen 6 and 6 Plus models were flying off the shelves. Apple sold more than 74 million of them worldwide in the quarter. And the momentum should keep going for a while because their highly anticipated iWatch is set for release this April.The forecast isn_t quite as sunny on the US economic front. Business investment spending has dropped for a fourth consecutive month. Economists say it could be a sign that slowing worldwide growth might finally be having an impact stateside. A strengthening American dollar has also made US exports more expensive. However it isn_t ALL bad news. Consumer attitudes remain upbeat and December saw home sale hit their highest levels since June 2008.And in Russia things are going from bad to worse. Rating agency Standard and Poor_s has just downgraded the country_s credit rating to junk status Half of Russia_s government earnings come from oil and gas exports. And with oil prices falling at staggering rates the nation has been pushed to the brink of recession. The S&P rating cut will make it much harder and pricier for Moscow to borrow money. Meanwhile the Russian ruble has hit all-time lows losing more than forty percent of its value against the US dollar. According to NASA that_s the hottest January since records began back in 1880. Weather experts believe that El Nino has now PEAKED but that doesn_t mean that global warming will slow down. This year is already on track to outpace last year as the HOTTEST on record In related news the warm waters that El Nino is causing has attracted tens of THOUSANDS of black tip sharks just off the coast of Palm Beach County Florida. Professor Stephen Kajiura of Florida Atlantic University took THIS stunning video of the sharks while studying their migration patterns. Around 30 percent of global shark attacks took place in Florida last year with the majority of bites coming from black tips. And US commercial flights will once again travel to CUBA The two reconciled countries have signed off on a deal that will see up to 110 daily flights between American airports and nine Cuban cities. US airlines are expected to commence flights in the next 6 months but it won_t be as easy for their Cuban airline counterparts. Carriers from the island nation will have to apply for special permission on a case-by-case basis. Isabella it_s hard to believe but it_s been 53 YEARS since the last commercial flights between the US and CubaIt_s such a beautiful country-I think we can expect tourism to EXPLODE once regular flights are reinstated.
