VS) US and NATO authorities have cut a deal with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan for a secure access route on equipment headed to Europe. Pakistan_s roads, which had been used for the majority of the mission, have been closed since an accidental NATO airstrike on Pakistani forces a few months ago. The new northern exit route is less convenient, but also far less expensive.ES) The central Asian nations are charging a transport fee upwards of 12-hundred dollars per truck. That may sound pricey, but it pales in comparison to the outrageous 5-thousand dollars per truck being demanded by Pakistan - a price the US has refused to pay. The equipment will be shipped into Europe, and then flown home. The last of NATO_s troops will leave the region at the end of 2014.2. VS) Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Beijing on Tuesday with hopes of bolstering his country_s relations with China. Putin met with Chinese President Hu Jintao (jin-TOW) for discussions on a range of topics that will include energy cooperation and the volatile situation in Syria. Both Russia and China have been reluctant to interfere with the Assad regime_s crackdown on protesters.ES) Economic relations between the two have warmed considerably over the last decade. Bilateral trade hit 83-point-5 billion dollars last year, thanks mainly to partnership in the energy sector. The two nations have a goal of reaching 100 billion dollars in trade by 2015. The friendly efforts from Russia are thought to have something to do with the vast untapped resources in Siberia, and fears that China will look to gain control of the thinly populated region.3. VS) Four days of massive celebrations for Queen Elizabeth_s diamond jubilee came to a close on Tuesday, and the festivities were capped off in style After Monday_s fantastic concert that featured some of the biggest names in pop music, things took on a more formal tone on Tuesday.ES) The Queen led a parade through central London to Buckingham Palace, riding in a horse and carriage alongside Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. They were followed by another carriage that held Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton - who looked dashing as always Millions packed the streets over the last few days to celebrate the Queen_s sixtieth year on the throne, and we wish her many moreVS) It_s amazing to see such an outpouring of love and admiration for an authority figure who_s been in power for so long Erica.ES) Seriously. I_m Victoria Sinclair, welcome. American authorities are one step closer to capturing those responsible for the US consulate attack in Benghazi. Libyan officials have singled out one man believed to be the leader of the group behind the assault. Eila Adams has more on this story and joins us now with the latest. Vic, according to Libyan authorities, witnesses at the scene say that Ahmed Abu Khattala was the man leading the charge. Khattala is a prominent figure of a militant group based out of Benghazi called Ansar al-Shariah. The group has many of the same puritanical and anti-western views as Al Qaeda. Libyan police have yet to bring Khattala in for questioning, however. Vic, US officials acknowledge that they_ve got their eye on Khattala, but still aren_t convinced that the attack was orchestrated by just one man.So if the Libyans are so confident of his involvement, why haven_t they brought him into custody yet?For one thing, the newly elected government there is still pretty shaky. Plus the military and police force aren_t exactly organized which makes it tough to coordinate operations. Well I_m sure if the Americans decide he_s their man, they_ll take care of things themselves, much appreciated Eila.The Libyan attack is, unfortunately, not the only terrorist activity on our radar today. A shocking story has emerged from New York City, where a suspected terrorist attempted to detonate a thousand-pound bomb in front of the Federal Reserve building in Manhattan. Luckily the FBI was able to thwart the plot. Katherine Curtis has been following this developing story. What_s the latest KatVic, a 21-year old Bangladeshi man has been arrested after attempting to blow up the building during morning rush hour. came to the US in January on a student visa. After arriving in New York City he allegedly tried to reach out to members of Al-Qaeda, but instead contacted an undercover FBI agent. The feds tracked Nafis for months, eventually supplying him with faulty explosives loaded into a cargo van. Authorities nabbed him right after he tried to detonate the bomb. They say there was never any risk to the public Vic.It_s quite the story Katherine. Do we know What kind of charges he_s looking at?Attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, and attempting to provide material support to Al-Qaeda. About as serious as it gets.Some amazing work by the authorities here. One can only imagine the devastation had he been successful. Thanks for the update Kat.We_ll wrap up this first look at today_s Naked News in a Manhattan courtroom, where an Iranian man has pled guilty to plotting the assassination of a Saudi Arabian ambassador on US soil. 58-year old Manssor Arbabsiar, a used car salesman living in Texas, tried to hire an undercover DEA agent posing as a Mexican drug cartel member to carry out the attack.According to prosecutors, Arbabsiar was working under orders from the Iranian military. He offered the undercover agent one-and-a-half million dollars to carry out the hit. The plot involved bombing a Washington area restaurant as well as the embassies of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Arbabsiar_s sentencing will take place on January 23rd. His charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years behind bars. We_ll be right back.

VS) I_m Victoria Sinclair, welcome to Naked News. Here_s what_s making headlines today. The ongoing violence in Syria has now claimed two very high profile victims. Sunday Times of London reporter Marie Colvin and award winning French photographer Remi Ochlik (AWTCH-lik) were killed in the latest round of shelling by Syrian government forces in the city of Homs. Colvin was a veteran reporter from New York who had covered last year_s civil war in Libya. In an on-air interview with CNN just the night before, she said that the conflict in Syria was the worse she_d ever seen. At least 40 people were killed during Tuesday_s clashes in Homs. The Red Cross has asked for a temporary break in fighting to get medical and food supplies to civilians trapped in the crossfire.Elsewhere in the region, a group of UN nuclear officials have left Iran after a highly-publicized visit to inspect the country_s controversial nuclear program. And unfortunately, after two days of intensive talks with Iranian authorities, the group failed to reach an agreement on how to verify the country_s nuclear facilities. We_re joined now by Eila Adams for the story. EA) Vic, International Atomic Energy Agency experts say they could not come to terms on a number of unresolved issues surrounding Iran_s nuclear program. Most notably, Tehran blocked them from visiting a military base in Parchin, suspected of being a test site for explosives related to nuclear weapons. Iran_s envoy to the IAEA told state media that the negotiations had involved cooperation and mutual understanding. Another round of talks is expected in the near future. In other news, Olympic organizers in London are taking no chances when it comes to possible terrorist scenarios at the upcoming games. On Wednesday more than 25-hundred rescue workers took part in a simulated attack exercise on the subway system in central London. The drills were held at the disused Aldwych (AWLD-witch) Station on Surrey Street, with police and firefighters escorting out mock casualties. Officials say the exercise is meant to build confidence in on-site responders and test the decision-making skills of senior management. Needless to say Vic it was quite a scene.VS) (with a smile) So no need for alarm then if you happened to see a few thousand police in the middle of London on Wednesday.EA) Not at all Authorities want to assure everyone that they_re leaving NOTHING to chance. In fact the Olympic security budget was doubled in December to 866 million.VS) Well they_ve sold nearly nine million tickets and the eyes of the world will be upon them. Although construction has been long stalled due to budgetary disputes, there finally appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg have confirmed construction on the 9-11 museum project is now slated to resume. It had previously been stalled due to funding and oversight concerns between the museum_s Foundation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In a show of unity, the parties came to an agreement late Monday night, and are now pushing for construction to resume at the earliest possible date. When completed, the 110-thousand-square-foot museum will house various artifacts, including memorabilia, photos, videotapes, voice messages, and pieces of recovered property. The anniversary of the attacks also brings a small victory to thousands of 911 first responders. The National Institute for Occupational Safety has added 50 types of cancer to its list of funded treatments for emergency service workers and other survivors. The government organization says the move will ensure a greater number of those affected by toxic residue from the fallen Trade Centre towers will receive free health care. In addition to first responders, full coverage will be granted to construction workers and office cleaners who_ve fallen ill over the past decade. The doctor who helped the United States track down Osama bin Laden has some harsh words for Pakistan_s spy agency. Shakil Afridi says the country_s powerful Inter-Service Intelligence Agency considers the US its worst enemy, and has been faking its allegiance in order to receive billions in military aid. In an exclusive prison interview with Fox News, Afridi said the revelations were made to him during his time spent being tortured by the ISI after the U.S. attack on bin Laden_s compound in Pakistan. As for the rest of the rankings, Cambridge finished second and Harvard third. It_s a surprising slip for Harvard. They finished first overall for six years between 2004 and 2009. American authorities are one step closer to capturing those responsible for the US consulate attack in Benghazi. Libyan officials have singled out one man believed to be the leader of the group behind the assault. Eila Adams has more on this story and joins us now with the latest. Vic, according to Libyan authorities, witnesses at the scene say that Ahmed Abu Khattala was the man leading the charge. Khattala is a prominent figure of a militant group based out of Benghazi called Ansar al-Shariah. The group has many of the same puritanical and anti-western views as Al Qaeda. Libyan police have yet to bring Khattala in for questioning, however. Vic, US officials acknowledge that they_ve got their eye on Khattala, but still aren_t convinced that the attack was orchestrated by just one man.So if the Libyans are so confident of his involvement, why haven_t they brought him into custody yet?For one thing, the newly elected government there is still pretty shaky. Plus the military and police force aren_t exactly organized which makes it tough to coordinate operations. Well I_m sure if the Americans decide he_s their man, they_ll take care of things themselves, much appreciated Eila.The Libyan attack is, unfortunately, not the only terrorist activity on our radar today. A shocking story has emerged from New York City, where a suspected terrorist attempted to detonate a thousand-pound bomb in front of the Federal Reserve building in Manhattan. Luckily the FBI was able to thwart the plot. Katherine Curtis has been following this developing story. What_s the latest KatVic, a 21-year old Bangladeshi man has been arrested after attempting to blow up the building during morning rush hour. came to the US in January on a student visa. After arriving in New York City he allegedly tried to reach out to members of Al-Qaeda, but instead contacted an undercover FBI agent. The feds tracked Nafis for months, eventually supplying him with faulty explosives loaded into a cargo van. Authorities nabbed him right after he tried to detonate the bomb. They say there was never any risk to the public Vic.It_s quite the story Katherine. Thanks for the update Kat.We_ll wrap up this first look at today_s Naked News in a Manhattan courtroom, where an Iranian man has pled guilty to plotting the assassination of a Saudi Arabian ambassador on US soil. 58-year old Manssor Arbabsiar, a used car salesman living in Texas, tried to hire an undercover DEA agent posing as a Mexican drug cartel member to carry out the attack.According to prosecutors, Arbabsiar was working under orders from the Iranian military. He offered the undercover agent one-and-a-half million dollars to carry out the hit. The plot involved bombing a Washington area restaurant as well as the embassies of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Arbabsiar_s sentencing will take place on January 23rd. His charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years behind bars. We_ll be right back. Sunday Times of London reporter Marie Colvin and award winning French photographer Remi Ochlik (AWTCH-lik) were killed in the latest round of shelling by Syrian government forces in the city of Homs. Colvin was a veteran reporter from New York who had covered last year_s civil war in Libya. In an on-air interview with CNN just the night before, she said that the conflict in Syria was the worse she_d ever seen. At least 40 people were killed during Tuesday_s clashes in Homs. The Red Cross has asked for a temporary break in fighting to get medical and food supplies to civilians trapped in the crossfire.Elsewhere in the region, a group of UN nuclear officials have left Iran after a highly-publicized visit to inspect the country_s controversial nuclear program. And unfortunately, after two days of intensive talks with Iranian authorities, the group failed to reach an agreement on how to verify the country_s nuclear facilities. We_re joined now by Eila Adams for the story. EA) Vic, International Atomic Energy Agency experts say they could not come to terms on a number of unresolved issues surrounding Iran_s nuclear program. Most notably, Tehran blocked them from visiting a military base in Parchin, suspected of being a test site for explosives related to nuclear weapons. Iran_s envoy to the IAEA told state media that the negotiations had involved cooperation and mutual understanding. Another round of talks is expected in the near future. In other news, Olympic organizers in London are taking no chances when it comes to possible terrorist scenarios at the upcoming games. On Wednesday more than 25-hundred rescue workers took part in a simulated attack exercise on the subway system in central London. The drills were held at the disused Aldwych (AWLD-witch) Station on Surrey Street, with police and firefighters escorting out mock casualties. Officials say the exercise is meant to build confidence in on-site responders and test the decision-making skills of senior management. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg have confirmed construction on the 9-11 museum project is now slated to resume. It had previously been stalled due to funding and oversight concerns between the museum_s Foundation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In a show of unity, the parties came to an agreement late Monday night, and are now pushing for construction to resume at the earliest possible date. When completed, the 110-thousand-square-foot museum will house various artifacts, including memorabilia, photos, videotapes, voice messages, and pieces of recovered property. The anniversary of the attacks also brings a small victory to thousands of 911 first responders. The National Institute for Occupational Safety has added 50 types of cancer to its list of funded treatments for emergency service workers and other survivors. The government organization says the move will ensure a greater number of those affected by toxic residue from the fallen Trade Centre towers will receive free health care. In addition to first responders, full coverage will be granted to construction workers and office cleaners who_ve fallen ill over the past decade. The doctor who helped the United States track down Osama bin Laden has some harsh words for Pakistan_s spy agency. Shakil Afridi says the country_s powerful Inter-Service Intelligence Agency considers the US its worst enemy, and has been faking its allegiance in order to receive billions in military aid. In an exclusive prison interview with Fox News, Afridi said the revelations were made to him during his time spent being tortured by the ISI after the U.S. attack on bin Laden_s compound in Pakistan.
